Pentagon Pundits Jeopardize America's Free Press

Yesterday, the New York Times exposed a secret Pentagon campaign to infiltrate the media with pro-war propaganda.


The scheme reaches all the way to the Bush White House, where top officials recruited dozens of "military analysts" to spread favorable views of the war via every major news channel -- without revealing they were working from Pentagon scripts and often lobbying for major military contractors.

Spreading "covert propaganda" is illegal under federal law. Congress must investigate these military pundits and their ties to the Bush administration, defense contractors and our national news media.

The business news of the last 24 hours has been the merger agreement between Delta and Northwest. According news reports, the new merged airline will be the largest in the world and the merger could shake up the entire industry.

This got me to thinking: how big a company would the new Delta be compared the corporate giants we at Free Press deal with every day?

The Great American Horse Race

On November 2004, I was just a year younger that the required legal voting age. As a senior in high school, I felt that I had a great right (I felt superior because I was an upperclassman) to participate in our country’s most important decision: voting for the next President. I had a mini rant amongst my group of friends, as we joked about petitioning to lower the legal voting age.
