Comcast is blocking P2P traffic and degrading the voice quality of VoIP competitions

On the surface, this whole Comcast Internet issue seems to be BT or file-sharing focused.

Indeed, Comcast has another real financial reason behind to blocking/delaying the P2P traffic on their network. It is the free VoIP services that comcast is really targetting.

Don't forget Comcast is also providing Internet phone service with monthly charges. And, Skype is one of their main competitors. Skype is also using P2P technology and they provide free phone service between Skype users over the internet.

I am a Skype user for years and I like Skype because the voice quality is so clear. It is even better than most land line services. But in recently year, The Skype voice quality degraded a lot because I am also using Comcast internet.

There are always a period of 1-2 second interruption of conversation per each minute of voice communication. Comcast has done something in their traffic management to degrade the Skype service.

I contacted Skype about the problem. Skype replied that they have already received lots of similar complaints and they also know some ISPs are blocking/interference with the Skype traffic.

So, these big boys are controling the internet to their advantages and our government and the FCC are doing almost nothing (or acting too slow) to prevent that happens.
