Free Press Action Network
The Free Press Action Network is your home for media reform and media activism on the web.
It’s a Community
The Free Press Action Network is your place to connect, create, communicate and make change. People in communities across the country are working on the local, state and national level to reform the media. They’re fighting for more diverse voices, independent viewpoints, better journalism, and universal, affordable access to the Internet. And because they understand the media’s importance in setting the political agenda and influencing our daily lives, they’re fighting for a say in the policies that shape our media. The Free Press Action Network is an online resource for these activists. It’s your resource. It’s here to connect communities and motivated activists working for better media around the country.
It Connects the Grassroots to the Netroots
The Free Press Action Network is the place where online and offline advocacy come together. Netroots activists have proven that strategic actions online can have real impact in their communities and in the halls of Congress. However, when we combine our online acts with action in our communities we can amplify our voice and strengthen our impact. Connect your online petition drive with a visit to your legislator’s home office; spread the word about a house party you're hosting; review your local broadcasters’ public files and post the results. The Free Press Action Network is a gateway to the media reform movement. It’s designed to leverage the power, know-how and organizing capacity of the netroots media movement for on-the-ground impact.
It’s a Training Ground
The Free Press Action Network is your resource for new ideas and advice on how to reform the media in your community. You can get online and ask questions, access research and information, share what you know, suggest events, or help others by posting stories about actions you’ve taken. It’s about building a stronger media reform movement by sharing our expertise and resources and collaborating in new and important ways. It’s about working together to have an impact.
